You do not need a referral to begin sessions. If you do have a referral and a Medicare plan from your doctor, you can claim a rebate for the session. This can be through an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP) or an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC).
The Medicare rebate for dietetics is currently $60.35. Your claim will be submitted to Medicare for you after the session.
If you plan to claim sessions through private health insurance instead, please check if dietetics is covered by your policy.
